Not all coffees are the same, some of them are just extra special! This lot from our long-time partner Clayton is totally jam-packed with ripe tropical fruit, sweet gooey honey, and an explosion of hibiscus flowers, it’s enough to get your heart racing! With coffees this intensely aromatic it’s easy to suspect funny business but all that’s going on here is hard graft and meticulous attention to detail at every step of the farming process.

Roast process:
Roasting a coffee such as this when we have such a limited amount can sometimes be a little stressful as one small wrong move and we could fail in our task of highlighting the coffee’s full potential. But by roasting and cupping 50g samples batches with small variations we can really get to know a coffee Before it’s time to roast that first full batch.
PLAY
This is a completely crazy lot of coffee from ex-prosurfer Clayton. Imagine him strolling through his 100% agroecological part of the farm (Google it!) feeling proud, half-naked, and pleased with his work. Always eager to get back to dominating his slackline by the house. A truly multitalented man who spoils us in this can of his bizarre varietal, 2-SL.

Clayton is somewhat of an eco-warrior, eschewing standard organic certification and instead taking things one step further by focusing on regenerative farming practices. Rather than focusing solely on the health of his coffee plants and propping them up with diverse inputs, Clayton sees his farm as a self-sufficient ecosystem, where nature is free to be itself!

Traditionally robusta has the reputation of being of inferior quality. And comparing it to the Arabica beans, it sure presents a much rougher flavour profile. With ongoing climate change, robusta will have to play a bigger role in the future, as it can withstand tougher conditions. So we simply want to see how good we can make it and at the same time cater to the espresso drinker that doesn't appreciate coffee being fruity and full of acidity.

Our consumer coffee bags are 100% compostable, made up of paper and starch from leftover scraps of corn and sugar. They are also printed with environmentally friendly ink.
(If it is not composted in an active compost they can be recycled as paper)
